It takes so much courage to show up and create.
I don't care how seasoned a creator you are.
There is something so powerful, and at the same time so vulnerable about coming from that generative place within.
My songwriter friend Elizabeth asked me to sing and record this song a couple of years ago. When I heard the piano rendition and read her lyrics it stirred me deeply. I felt the spirit of the song saying, to each of us, “you’ve got something inside of you that’s a big deal. Don’t blow it off.”
And as Covid has its way with us I feel this even more potently. Not one of us knows how much more time we have. With every brush stroke, every word we write, every dance step, every note, as we show up to our chosen form, at the same time that we make our art, our art is making us.
And I deeply feel that no matter the skill level, no matter the form, as we create — and share — the world is richer because of it.
