Ani McManus

Ani comes from an artistic family, "but I was never one of the musicians," she says. When Ani picked up an ukulele at a local music store a few years ago and gave it a strum, she assumed that four strings had to be easier than six, and took it home with her that day. A few years later while Ani was editing a friend's memoir, a melody floated into her head inspired by the chapter she was working on. She sat down with her ukulele and chord chart from class, and didn’t get up until the song was done. She was hooked. Spending much of her free time writing songs over the next year was creatively fulfilling, but singing in and out of key to the four walls eventually closed in on her. Ani began to wonder how she could combine what she loved doing with giving back…
